HELP US CATCH VILLAINS

WIDNES police are reiterating appeals for information on three incidents in the Hough Green area.

Investigations into the incidents, a stabbing in January and two attempted robberies at Ditchfield Road Post Office and Rae's newsagents on Sunningdale Avenue, have so far failed to uncover suspects.

Anyone who can help police with information is urged to come forward

The stabbing happened outside the Albion on Liverpool Road at 4.30pm on Wednesday, January 20. An argument between the 18-year-old victim and another boy escalated into a fight which lead to the former being stabbed in the chest.

The attacker, who was roughly 5ft 6ins tall, had short hair and had a spotty complexion, ran off in the direction of Chesnut Lodge.

The first robbery took place at Hough Green Post Office on Wednesday, January 6 at 10am.

The robber was armed with a handgun, but fled empty-handed when a member of staff pressed the shop's panic button. He was later seen on Alston Road getting into a silver-coloured R-reg car containing two other people.

The final incident happened at Rae's on Friday, March 5.

A teenage boy of "stocky verging on chubby build" entered and demanded cash from the newsagent.

There was a struggle and the boy aborted his raid. He was about 5ft 8ins, was wearing a balaclava and spoke with a Widnes accent.

Anyone who can help can phone Det Cons Neil Gordon and John Reynolds on 01244 613 733 or, to leave information in confidence, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
