WARRINGTON Rowing Club enjoyed their best haul of competition results yet as they made waves during the Merseyside Regatta held on Saturday.
Youngsters on the club's junior development initiative, many of them from Bridgewater High School, were in fantastic form in their first outing at Birkenhead.
Mark Riley won the 12-year-old sculls and then partnered Jim Carter to achieve glory in the junior 12 doubles. In the quad sculls at the same age, Richard Spence, Glen Musgrove, Nick Holford and Sam Highfield, plus cox Chris Cottrell, swept away opposition from Liverpool, Bradford and Northwich.
The women's senior three crew beat Liverpool challengers in their final. The Warrington crew was Jo Edwards, Gill Lee, Sian Henrys, Elaine Paddison, Steve Coxon, cox.
Not to be outdone the senior one girls also scalped Liverpool thanks to Sharon Westgarth, Liz Newton, Celia Critchley, Angela Bardon and Steve Coxon, cox.
Mike Ledger and Nigel Wilkinson were men's double sculls winners.
A week earlier Warrington's Richard Barden and Andy Mallins were a winning pair at the Strathclyde International in Scotland.
Anyone who would like to try their hand at rowing can take part in the club's annual pubs and clubs regatta which will take place at their Kingsway Bridge base on the River Mersey on May 23. To book, contact Richard Sinnott on 07970 796917.
