CAR SMASHES INTO COUPLE'S BUNGALOW

A COUPLE escaped serious injury when a car crashed into their bungalow during the Bank Holiday weekend.

The car is believed to have skidded off the road and ploughed through a gap in the hedge on Nixon Road, Cuddington.

It then plunged into the garden - before hitting the side of the bungalow.

The occupants, both retired teachers, were extremely shocked after the accident on Saturday night.

It happened when the car, containing four people, went round a steep right hand bend.

Resident Marion Gore rushed outside after hearing a loud bang.

"I kept seeing a motorbike going past. I heard a bang and thought it was the motorbike," she said. "I'm surprised that the car didn't turn over.

"This is a horrible road."

Marion has now called for a pedestrianised area, which was closed when the bungalows were built, to be reopened.

The owners of the bungalow, which had some structural damage, didn't wish to talk about their ordeal.

A Sandiway man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
