If post office dropped junk mail it would help

I REFER to the letter from 'A Postman' that appeared in a recent GUARDIAN, regarding his plight of having to carry six or seven bags of mail out on their rounds.

This is strictly not correct, as what the postman hasn't told us, is that a lot of that mail is delivered by vehicles to designated locations like sub post offices on his area where he can collect it without having to carry around the six or seven bags of mail with him all the time.

In addition to that, perhaps the posties mail bags wouldn't be so large if we didn't receive so much junk mail through the post and I'm afraid the Post Office are guilty of this as well.

Together with our normal mail we are receiving more junk mail in the form of pamphlets that companies have asked the Post Office to deliver on their behalf. It's no wonder the postman has six or seven bags of mail to deliver because half of it is just junk mail. If they got rid of this, then perhaps we would receive our mail at a reasonable time in the day.
