RUNAWAY WINNERS

BILL Thompson junior and Denis Behan were runaway winners of the Savoy Honda pairs competition at Widnes Golf Club on Sunday, thanks to Thompson's excellent score of 45 stableford points.

The competition was decided on aggregate scores, Behan's total of 30 giving the winners a commanding five-point margin over runners-up Brian New and Pat Conway, both of whom contributed 35 points to their total of 70.

Third, two points behind were Derek Olsen, who scored 37 and his father Ray, who added 31 for a score of 68.

That gave them a card play-off verdict over Dennis Walker and John Smart who posted the same total.
