Hornets Moorfield u9s 16 Rylands 12

HORNETS came out on top in this hard-fought and entertaining game.

Mom D Jones scored a hat-trick of tries due to prompting by R Myler, J Hetherington and strong defence from top tacklers D Dourley and J Andrews.

Coach's award went to S Connor for his handling skills. Credit goes to all the players for a solid team effort.

Hornets Moorfield u11s 16 Ashton Bears 0

HORNETS went buzzing into the NWC Cup Final with this win over a much improved Ashton Side.

With the heavy conditions of the pitch Hornets got off to a good start in the first-half with tries from A Riley and D Bloomfield and Riley getting one conversion.

Ashton tackled tirelessly keeping the score down to 10-0 at half-time.

With momOstick running and tackling throughout and a further try coming in the second-half for P Wright and the conversion by M Cookson.

This was an excellent team effort with captain A Kelly leading the way, backed up by each and every one of his players, this takes Hornets into the Final against Wigan St Pat's on Sunday, May 9 at Woolston.

Hornets Moorfield u7s 36 Pilkingtons 20

HORNETS followed up their win against Leigh East the previous day with a solid performance against a good Pilks side.

A great tackling and attacking display from Gareth O'Brien earned him mom award having scored three tries, closely followed by Ryan Risley who having scored three ries took top tackler award.

Other scorers Liam Hulme with one try and a special mention going to both Jamie London and Lewis Goulding who both scored their first try for the team. Lewis also took coach's award. Sean Durbin making his debut ran and tackled well.

Leigh East u7s 28 Hornets Moorfield 44

THIS was a game when Hornets excelled in heavy conditions producing some excellent rugby. Ken Gilhooley had an outstanding game, his powerful runs being rewarded with two tries and mom. Other scorers were Gareth O'Brien (4), Liam Hulme (4), Jamal Zarrugh, who also took coach's award. Top tackle award went to Jamie London, captain for the day who improves with every game.
