ALSAGER new boy Darren Long smashed an unbeaten century for his side on Sunday to help them to a comfortable cup victory.
Long was 102 not out as Alsager beat Stockport Georgians by 67 runs at home in the first round of the Cheshire Cup.
Paul Pickford was also in fine form, hitting an unbeaten 51, as Alsager opened with 204 for two after their 40 overs, Paul Tibbetts making 29.
Stockport ended on 137 for six in reply, Iain Ford taking two of the wickets.
The win followed a disappointing draw for Alsager on Saturday in the league at home to Cheadle Hulme.
Dominic Bull claimed five for 38 for Alsager as Cheadle were all out for 120, Eddie Burnett weighing in with three for 18.
Cheadle were in dire trouble at nine for three, but recovered to set Alsager a target of 121, the home side falling short by nine runs to end on 112 for seven after themselves crashing to 25 for three.
Number six Chris Welch top scored for Alsager with 47, followed by 29 not out for Burnett.
Alsager took seven points, to leave them second in the league.
