ALSAGER went two points clear at the top of the league on Monday night after beating Nantwich 2-1 at home.
The win puts them six points clear of Norton, their main rivals for the title, who have three games in hand on Alsager.
The victory followed a 0-0 draw at home to mid-table Rists on Saturday, and an excellent 1-0 win at fellow highfliers Eccleshall in mid-week.
Mick Dale put Alsager ahead against Nantwich in the 20th minute when he slotted the ball under the keper at the end of a 30-yard run.
Nantwich drew level two minutes into the second half, only for an inspired substitution by Alsager boss Steve Booth securing the three points for Alsager late on.
Midfielder Steve Faint was brought on as a forward with 15 minutes to go, and scored the winner five minutes later when he rounded the keeper to fire home.
Alsager striker Gareth Rowe missed a penalty against Rists in the last five minutes when he saw his spot kick hit the post, roll across the line and strike the other post.
Midfielder Steve Brown scored the winner for Alsager against Eccleshall with a strike 20 minutes before the end.
''These last three games have put the pressure on Norton, who have a more difficult run-in than us,'' said Steve Booth.
