VICS COME BACK

NINE-MAN Knypersley Vics staged an incredible comeback on Saturday to snatch a late league point at sixth-placed Barwell.

The Vics looked down and out at 2-0 down with just five minutes left, but scored twice at the death to earn a 2-2 draw.

Vics' keeper Powner pulled off a superb save on 20 minutes from a fierce volley, and produced another fine save five minutes later from a 25-yard shot.

Barwell took the lead in the 31st minute when a player rifled home a shot in the area.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men seven minutes before the break when Rafferty for the Vics and a Barwell player were dismissed for an off the ball incident.

Knypersley were in dire straits a minute later when Bedson was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.

Barwell went close on 68 minutes when Powner held onto a goalbound header, and made it 2-0 a minute later when the ball was deflected into the path of Lucas, who hit his second of the match.

Leigh cleared a Lucas header off the Vics' line on 75 minutes, and Knypersley pulled a goal back with five minutes left.

Dutton beat two defenders before hammering the ball into the roof of the net.

The Vics equalised in the last minute when James hit a curling shot into the top corner.
