RECENTLY there was some doubt expressed by one of your regular correspondents as to whether voting in local elections made any difference to policy decisions made by the borough or county councils.
Nothing could be further from the truth - everyone entitled to vote in any election should never think that their vote is not important.
Voting in a parish, borough or county elections should not be an option, it is a duty.
We are now in the middle of local government elections - are you happy with what is happening?
Are you content to potter along and say 'My vote can't change things' or use your vote to try and elect a councillor who will express the wishes of the majority of the electorate?
It was only the determination of the people of Lostock with their constant lobbying that has delayed or hopefully stopped any further destruction of one of their green field sites.
Other voters are at present pointing out the need to open up Marbury Lane for light traffic. There have been many other problems in our county where local residents, supported by their councillor, have influenced authorities.
In spite of the doubters, if you use your vote wisely we will get the right people to represent our interests effectively so that the new Vision of our area will be realised eventually.
Finally, use your right to vote for whom you believe is the right person to support you and your family and to make our society and environment better than it is at present.
