NORTHWICH'S leading Methodist minister is set to take a step into the unknown.
Reverend Mike Dye, who is the superintendent for the Northwich churches, is joining the RSPB's first adventure challenge, entitled Where Eagles Soar.
His route will take him through some of the mysterious lands of central Asia, onto ancient glaciers and across turbulent rivers, and into the Tien Shan mountains of Heavenly Peace.
"It is quite an opportunity," said Mike, 54.
"Every night you sleep either under canvas or under the stars. I haven't done anything like this before but I'm really looking forward to it."
Funds raised by the trek will go to the RSPB's Wetland Restoration programme.
Mike, who took up his post last September, has pledged to raise around £2,500, and has already been promised £800 in sponsorship from friends and parish members.
If you would like to sponsor Mike, ring the RSPB on 01484 861148.
