WOLVES STAFF CHANGES

THERE have been behind-the-scenes staff changes at Warrington Wolves.

Steven Morris is a newcomer taking up the title of retail marketing manager. Former Wolves' Cockhedge shop manager Stewart McNorton has switched over to the lotteries side and bars manager Bernie Lenihan now has stadium manager responsibilities too.

But former sales and marketing executive Amanda Johnson and chief scout Jimmy Reader, the man who brought the likes of Lee Penny and Mark Hilton to Warrington as youngsters, have left the club.

Morris brings good experience to the club in the retail marketing field.

Deakin says: "He'll be looking after the merchandising in the future, developing our merchandise ranges because the whole thing has been flat.

"Steve will be making some recommendations on what to do in regards to future ticket promotions and the retail of tickets for matches too."

Lenihan has been kept busy due to the club's need to raise its ground capacity from 7,300 to 10,000 before the end of the season.

And supporters will have seen a big difference in the Railway End of the ground on Sunday when the Wolves entertained the Bulls as extra crush barriers put in place last week allowed room for an extra 1,700 supporters in that section of the ground.

Deakin says: "Bernie's done an outstanding job along with financial director Neil Dowson with regards to health and safety issues and trying to make sure we can repair some of the guttering, clean up the toilets and fix holes in the roof.

"All these are being done now by Bernie and over a period of time we'll see these changes coming around.

"Then perhaps we'll try to find a new home for the coaching staff and the players. We need more room here at Wilderspool, more access, and a better office environment."

Johnson joined Warrington from Hull Sharks as sales and marketing executive eight weeks ago and moved into the area with husband Mark, the Salford Reds winger.

Deakin says: "At this particular time the job was not suited to Amanda."

There has been no statement from the club for the reasons behind Reader's departure.
