WARRINGTON SUNDAY SOCCER LEAGUE ROUND UP

WARRINGTON Sunday Soccer League's Presidents Cup final provided plenty of excitement.

Marquis got off to a flying start when Ian Wilkinson scored in the opening attack. Mike Astbury was brought down for a Pennine penalty in the second half, which Scott Taylor converted. Paul Rathmill then put Pennine in front by heading home a corner.

Marquis staged their come back with a hat-trick from Carl Greenwood in the final 15 minutes.

Leigh Borough clinched the Division Four title after going behind to a Dave Perrins goal for Woolston Old Boys. Steve Heapy equalised from a corner to grab the point that proved vital with General Elliot losing 3-2 to Tyrewise.

Morris International gained a point in their battle to escape the drop with a 3-3 draw against high flying Young Gate.

In the Premier Division, Cheshire Hawthorne lost 3-0 to Kembledean with goals from Stuart Wallis, two and Peter Fong.

In Division One, Community House and the Old Ball drew 4-4. Gary Heath and John Wooley both scored for Community House with Chris Woodward, two, Lee Trantum and Carl Dean replying.

Greenwood Star Alarms overcame neighbours Howley 4-2 in their battle for the top spot. Danny Gallop scored twice for Greenwood along with I. Wilkinson and A. Brown. Danny Glass and L. Ellis scored for Howley.

In Division Two, a Derek Musson hat-trick along with goals from Darren Kerry, James Mullaney, Mark Hadland and Michael Lears earned KK Cabs a 7-2 victory over Gregory's Reds. John Marsden and Philip Sharrock grabbed consolations for the Reds.

In Division Three, Simon King, Neil Leamey and Alastair McGregor earned Seven Woods a share of the points with Pierpoint and Bryant replying with two goals from Michael Pitts and one from Kevin Barker.

Steve's double

ST. Oswalds remained top of Division Five in the Warrington Sunday Soccer League with a 6-4 win over Turf and Feather.

Steve Hardman netted twice with further goals from Philip Mckay, Scott Taylor, Paul Edmonds and Mark Mannion while Chris Burrows, two, Lee Barrow and M. Cawdwell replied for Turf.

Bottom club Five Star Transport overcame Red Lion with a hat-trick from Steel and a goal apiece from Martin Bell and Michael Clark.

Commercial continued their drive for the top spot with a hat-trick from Philip Burton and one from Lee Walton as they overcame Stretton Leisure 4-1.
