WARRINGTON Wolves have revealed record 'gate' receipts were taken on Sunday when Darryl Van de Velde's side entertained Bradford Bulls.
The 7,591 crowd was the Wolves' third highest home attendance since Super League began in 1996 - beaten only by the 8,000-plus turnouts at home to Bradford and Wigan three years ago.
Wolves' chief executive Peter Deakin says: "It shows the club is progressing. We believe there was around 2,000 Bradford supporters, leaving 5,500 from Warrington which is an increase.
"So from our standpoint, we are still going in the right direction. We have not put any of our community outreach projects into place yet so the current attendances are just based on the win-loss ratio.
"With the right programme in place and with the right environment we can still move things forward and even though there was a lot of disappointment within the club at losing to Bradford there are a lot of positives to be taken from it."
Deakin said he was unable to reveal the amount of 'gate' receipts but he admitted the total beat the previous record by a 'significant amount'.
