OLYMPIC athlete Derek Redmond is set to sprint into town this weekend to promote events at Crewe's Camm Street Centre.
The 400 metre runner, shown left, will be in town on Sunday to referee the 1999 Power Heptathlon which tests the strongest, fittest and fastest athletes in the area.
Competitors will be pushed to the limit in a host of events including a 25-metre car push, dumbell carry, 40-metre weighted sprint, standing long jump and bicep chin-ups.
Redmond will also promote an open day at the centre and the ASDA Triathlon Challenge Cup, in which athletes will use gym machinery to row for 2km, ride 4km on the stairmaster bikes and run 2km on the treadmill.
His appearance comes two months after Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies threw her support behind the centre.
Dolores Williams, from Camm Street, said the appearances would boost the profile of their joint lottery bid with Ruskin High to buiid a new sports complex at the school.
"The support they are giving is great. These aren't paid appearances, they are doing them for us personally," she said.
"It's a great boost for everybody at the centre that they believe in what we are doing, and if we get the lottery bid these stars will continue to lend their support."
Anyone interested in taking part in the events can pick up a registration form from the centre.
