RAIN failed to dampen the spirits of thousands of people who flocked to this year's Festival of Transport.
Up to 10,000 visitors flooded into the town for the popular annual festival and parade.
The spectacular parade, at 1pm, included more than 160 vehicles from horse drawn vehicles, cycles, cars, agricultural and commercial transport.
It made its way through the town along Congleton Road, High Street, Newcastle Road and then along to the Common.
A display of 60 static vehicles was also on show with a variety of entertainment including Findle Dindle and his comedy car, children's train rides and a selection of charity and market stalls.
Organiser Joe Wilson said the rain had started in the afternoon but fortunately the parade had already passed through.
"It was a great success," he added. "People were about five deep on the Common. We think somewhere between 6,000 and 10,000 people came along.
"It's growing all the time and is certainly very popular. There was quite a variety of vehicles this year.
"We try every year to get a good variety of different types, people do like to come back and see the same ones but this year we did our best to change the variety and we seemed to score a success."
