Marathon man Alan cashes in

ACCOUNTANCY assistant Alan Maddock gave sponsors a good run for their money when he raised £650 at the London Marathon on Sunday.

The Vale Royal Borough Council employee completed the course in three hours and 11 minutes - just ahead of the target he set himself (between three hours 15-30 minutes).

Alan was raising money for the Vale Royal branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. It was the first marathon he had attempted.

A member of Vale Royal Athletic Club, Alan had been in training for many months and had regularly been running between 50 and 60 miles a week while also taking part in a couple of half marathons.

He said the atmosphere along the route was "fantastic" and that he would love to take part in another marathon.
