Mum's demands action after child finds syringe

A MOTHER is calling for an end to the scourge of dirty needles in council estates after her six-year-old son pricked his finger on a discarded syringe.

Nathan Williamson who found a hypodermic needle and began playing with it.

When Nathan returned indoors to his mum, Lynn, with small cuts on his finger tips, she rushed him to Warrington Hospital where he received jabs for Hepatitis B.

Now, Lynn faces an agonising wait while doctors test the contents of the syringe for diseases.

She said: "When Nathan brought this thing into the house to ask me what it was, I felt sick. We've been through hell and back with worry.

Added Lynn: "I've read about similar incidents in the past and now it's happened to my son. The police and the council say there's nothing they can do. There are registered and unregistered drug users all around us and I don't think they should be allowed to move in so close to children.

"Why should innocent families have to suffer because of mindless, irresponsible drug users? This problem seems to be getting worse and something needs to be done about it," she said.
