Pensioners enjoy trip to Liverpool

A GROUP of Winsford day trippers were among the first people to tour Liverpool Town Hall when it was opened to the public for the first time recently.

Members of the Winsford branch of the Vale Royal Pensioners' Association walked around shops in Liverpool city centre before being taken on a conducted tour of the historic building, which was long used as a visitng place for kings and queens travelling to Britain across the Atlantic.

The visitors marvelled at the glittering chandeliers, worth £250,000 each, and entered the council chamber while a council was in session.

A perect day out was rounded off with afternoon tea at the famous Adelphi Hotel, in the Grand Sefton Suite.

There are still places available for the trip to Weston-super-Mare on Saturday, April 17, but the pensioners shouldn't have too much trouble filling the coach - their last meeting attracted a record attendance of 112 and they now have of total of 170 members.
