Sheila bids a fond farewell

AFTER two years at the helm of business and trade development in Middlewich, town centre manager Sheila Terry is leaving the post.

She has played a crucial role in guiding and upgrading the five towns of Congleton borough, for which she has been responsible, by creating partnerships and supporting businesses.

In Middlewich she has worked to attract new businesses into the town centre, helped traders with their queries and improved the environment by displaying art work in empty shop windows.

Sheila, who has recently married, is departing at the beginning of May to take on the role of town centre manager at Ellesmere Port.

David Dingle, operations and community director, said the borough council would be sorry to see Sheila leave.

She has been employed by the Congleton Economic Partnership which consists of Congleton Borough Council, South & East Cheshire TEC, Cheshire County Council and Congleton borough Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise.

Mr Dingle said: "Sheila has worked extremely hard to develop important partnerships in the public, private and voluntary sector.

"She has a very positive attitude to her work and her enthusiasm and commitment have been second to none.

"She will be a sad loss to the borough of Congleton Economic Partnership and to town centre initiatives.

"She has been working with the retailers in Wheelock Street to develop and improve the high street and attract new customers.

"A questionnaire was also sent out to residents of Middlewich asking for their views on the town centre and how it can be developed.

"There was a good response from this and Sheila has collected the feedback and we are hoping to act on these suggestions. She has been working on it for some time."

It is not yet known what will happen to the town centre manager's post. The issue will be raised at the next Economic Partnership meeting. However, Congleton borough has pledged its continuing support.
