LOCAL groups could be in line for grants from two new funding schemes set up by the borough council.
The Community Partnership Fund will help to tackle the social and economic disadvantage which is experienced by some residents in the borough.
It is aimed at small schemes which address some of the problems not included in current service provision.
Although the funds are small they are intended to attract matching funding from partners involved in delivering the planned scheme.
The Millennium Fund is aimed at helping people across the borough celebrate the year 2000.
It has just paid out two grants but still has more than £19,000 left to help other organisations.
"In total the borough council has given away around a quarter of a million pounds in the past 12 months to a range of voluntary organisations.
"These two new funds will complement the many other schemes which we already run.
"We are currently updating the Grants Information Leaflet to include the new funds and giving up to date details of how to apply.
"It should be available in all council outlets within the next few weeks."
The two new funds are administered by the borough council and its grants panel.
Anyone interested in finding out more should contact Keith Boughey, the council's voluntary sector liaison officer on 01270 537643.
