All the fun of the fair comes to town

ALL the fun of the fair will be riding into Winsford next weekend when the town holds its first Town Festival.

The biggest fun fair Winsford has seen will be the centrepiece of the three-day extravaganza, running from Friday, April 9, to Sunday, April 11.

The festival begins at 11am and will be opened by Town Mayor Pam Booher, who will take a tour of the festival site.

The white knuckle thrills of funfair rides can be experienced in Dene Drive Car Park each day from 11am to 10pm.

The attractions will be provided by major Manchester firm Gore & de Koning, who are renowned for their presentations in Manchester City Centre.

Special flyers are available for the event, allowing both adults and children the chance to ride for half price.

Organiser Steve Smith said: "We're expecting up to 15 major rides. It will be the largest fairground Winsford's ever seen, beating last year's record of nine. They will all be first class attractions."

The fun doesn't stop at the fair, however, as the Mayor's charity dance will be taking place at the Civic Hall on the Friday night.

And other activities throughout the weekend include children's workshops in the Community Arts Centre, Dene Drive, a disco at New Images Youth Centre, Nixon Drive, a charity market, fairground organ and a football tournament.

There will also be a car boot sale at the Verdin Exchange on the Sunday, from 11am to 4pm, £5 per pitch.

Steve added: "It's a festival for the town. We want to put the town on the map and give the town a positive image."

The Winsford and Middlewich Guardian is giving away 10 tickets for rides on the funfair to the first five readers who ring in and answer this question: In which Winsford road is the funfair taking place? If you know, call the Guardian on 01606 862086.
