ASPINALL'S A SHOOTING STAR

TYREWISE booked their place in Warrington Sunday Soccer League's Red Lion Cup final with a 2-1 extra-time win.

Paul Quigg put Tyrewise ahead and then Jim Conn replied for Callands. Richard Brocklehurst sealed the victory for Tyrewise.

Four goals from Tony Darbyshire and a strike from Neil Birchall ensured BT Rolatruc a place in the final when they overwhelmed Insall Rangers 5-1. John Fitzsimmons replied for Insall.

The form book was turned upside down in the Premier Division when Cheshire Hawthorne beat Penny Black 2-1. Both goals for Cheshire Hawthorne were scored by David Fisher.

Howley went to the top of Division One when they beat Greenwood Star Alarms 1-0 thanks to a goal from Wayne Aspinall.

Martin Dawes romped to a 7-0 victory against Community House. Colin Doyle, three, Ian Doyle, three and Dave Hughes did the damage for Martin Dawes.

Peter Chisnall bagged all four goals in Pear Tree's 4-2 Division Two victory against Causeway.

Poacher beat Hounds and Hare 2-1 in Division Three. Paul May and Martin Hamilton scored.

Although goalkeeper Wayne Shaw was in tremendous form for Knights he could not prevent substitute Simon Gargan and Tom Wiseman scoring a goal apiece for Gas Social in Division Four.

General Elliott suffered a jolt to their championship ambitions when they were beaten 3-2 by Morris International. Neil Shacklady and Chris Jordan were on target for the Elliot.

Both 'keepers stole the limelight in the clash between Woolston OB and Young Gate, which kept the score to 2-1 for Woolston. Steve Akran scored the first for Woolston when he connected with a centre from Dave Galbraith and Archie Burton netted a second when he headed home from a corner.

Matthiola put pressure on the top teams in Division Five when they were the 5-2 victors against ESL Warrington. Ian Given, two, Darren Winsor, Paul Jones and David Morgan were on target.

Commercial beat Woodies with goals from Kevin Rust, two, Graham Swift and Tony Daley.

Kevin Tinney, Chris Harrison and Dave Burgess were all heroes as Five Star Transport won their first point of the season in the 3-3 draw with Manor Farm.
