MOND almost scored after being awarded a free-kick 25 yards from goal, new signing Nick Pantazides previously with Vauxhall, struck a fierce direct shot that Pool keeper pushed for a corner.

Both sides had further chances in the half but were unable to break the deadlock.

Dwyer had two early second-half chances, firstly he beat two defenders before hitting a fierce shot over the bar, then minutes later he cut inside the full-back before shooting inches wide of the post.

A free-kick for a foul on Wood almost produced an opening goal, Flaherty bring a superb save out of Ebrall who pushed his curling shot away, Crane following up hit a volley that somehow the keeper pushed for a corner.

Mond were appealing for a penalty when Baker handled in the area the referee however, awarded pool a free-kick to save the day.

Two late corners saw Mond attempt a winning goal but Williams and Evans were both denied by the visiting keeper.

Aintree Villa 1 Mond Reserves 0

TOP of the Third Division Aintree Villa were very lucky to secure three points that increases their promotion and league title chances.

Hide, Russell and Murphy all hit the crossbar in the first-half but a late strike by Cosgrove secured victory for the Liverpool outfit.

Mond Rangers Bonanza was won by No238, Bill Jackson, the draw was made by Holly Williams.

Next Saturday Mond travel to meet Mersey Royal in a First Division league fixture, kick-off 3pm.

Mond Reserves are at home to Shaftesbury in a Third Division Sheild fixture, kick-off 3pm.

Mond Rangers Ladies 1 Lancaster City Ladies 1

MOND peppered shots at the Lancaster goal and after 20 minutes success prevailed when a 20 yard strike by player/manager Harriet Miller dipped over the keeper to give her side a deserved lead.

Michelle Cooper came on for the second-half to inject some pace into Mond's frontline and despite playing against the wind still created all the chances and Lauren McCormack was unlucky not to score after a cross from Jenny Young.

A corner-kick proved crucial against Mond after 15 minutes when Kay Roberts was left unmarked on the edge of the box to crash home Lancaster's equaliser and five minutes later she almost repeated the feat.

Michelle Cooper went close to restoring Mond's lead, first with a flying header glancing wide and then a shot going just the wrong side of the post.

Despite all the pressure and the 22 corners, Mond were unlucky not to find the vital breakthrough to edge them ahead in a match that Lancaster must feel fortunate to have gained a point.

Next week's match at Stockport County Ladies now proves to be even more vital and Mond Rangers Ladies will be looking for a bit more luck in front of goal.
