PUPILS and staff at a Winsford school have entered the technological age thanks to a generous donation from a local building society.
Hebden Green Special School, on Woodford Lane West, was given £1,000 and the school has used the windfall to buy a new computer with CD ROM and internet access.
The money was donated by Cheshire Building Society through their Community Support Scheme, which identifies worthy local charities and awards financial assistance.
Area manager for Cheshire Building Society June Williams, said: "We are actually very involved with the community and offer support to many local charities and schools.
"Each building society branch has a small amount of money which they can allocate to local charities of their choice.
"But we thought it would be better for Hebden Green if they applied to our Community Support Scheme which can offer larger donations."
Laura Leader, chief fundraiser for Hebden Green, said: "We are very grateful to the Cheshire Building Society for giving us the money we needed to buy this new computer.
"It will be used by pupils of all ages at the school and we would just like to say a big thank you."
