Hooded fiend attacks woman

A HOODED attacker sexually assaulted a woman in a busy road during the morning rush-hour.

The man, who was wearing a blue cagoule with its hood pulled tight around his head, ran up behind the 25-year-old woman in Chester Road, Holmes Chapel, last week.

He dragged her into the driveway of a house before subjecting her to a serious sexual assault.

"It was a horrible experience for this woman," said Det Sgt Paul Bailey, of Congleton CID.

The woman had just left the town's railway station and was walking along the road at 8am when the clean-shaven man pounced.

Detectives say the assault happened in a busy street as many were leaving for work.

"The A54 is a very busy road," said Det Sgt Bailey.

"Someone may have seen him or seen where he came from - perhaps someone even saw the incident."

The attacker was described as 6ft with a large athletic build, in his mid to late 30s and had a round, red face.

He had short dark hair and wore a thigh-length blue cagoule, dark trousers and dark shoes.
