Farmer's wife may reap top award

A KNUTSFORD mum has been nominated as Britain's female farmer of the year.

Karol Bailey, who farms 33 acres at Holly Tree Farm, Tabley, was nominated for her work in farming and within the local community.

"It's quite an honour," said Karol.

Karol and her husband Michael have also been named as one of two finalists for the NFU President's Award in the Food from the Countryside category for successfully converting their holding from 100% wholesale to a retail operation.

The winners will be announced in February.
