DAVID Mooney has always been a dedicated follower of fashion.

So when Granada TV asked him to cook up a meal for the millennium he had all the ingredients for the perfect dish.

"Granada were looking forward to the new millennium in fashion and all sorts of things," said the Belle Epoque's head chef.

"They asked me what would be the influences in food and I said I thought there would be less boundaries and that we would be mixing anything with everything."

So David designed a three-course meal with smoked salmon, chicken and pears for dessert.

But the Belle Epoque won't be serving David's dish on New Year's Eve because the King Street restaurant won't be open.

"The cost of entertainment meant that making it a reasonable price for the customers was difficult," he said.

POSH Spice Victoria Adams dined at the Belle Epoque last week.

But head chef David Mooney said rumours that she shared her tucker with footballing boyfriend David Beckham were untrue.

"She wasn't dining with David Beckham unless he looks like a 30-year-old woman," he said.
