WARRINGTON Primary Schools are to benefit from the soccer skills of Everton FC's rising stars.
The club has struck a deal with the council to send its apprentices around schools to coach youngsters.
Every apprentice at the club is put through an FA coaching course and then sent out to schools as part of their training and development.
The programme has now been developed to include Warrington with council sports officers confident that every primary school in the borough should enjoy a visit within the next two years.
Two apprentices will take the sessions at a school, visiting for six weeks and encouraging teachers to achieve a coaching qualification themselves so they can continue the work afterwards.
Senior sports development officer Dave Maskery said: "This an excellent opportunity for children in Warrington to develop their skills.
"The club recognise that there's a lot of talent in Warrington, particularly at junior levels and are keen to see that develop.
"The courses are not about talent spotting but they are hoping youngsters with ability will remember them when the time comes to sign with a club."
Everton have also arranged a three day coaching course at Bruche Athletic Junior Football Club during February half term.
Boys and girls aged between eight and 13 can attend, it costs £20 and runs from February 15-17. For further details send a stamped addressed envelope to Everton Soccer Course, 78 Duckworth Grove, Padgate, Warrington WA2 0QX.
