A HAVE-A-GO hero was run over as she fought back against thieves who had snatched her handbag.
The woman, in her early 30s, had attempted to grab back her bag as a pair of raiders tried to escape in a waiting car.
She even grabbed hold of the getaway car's steering wheel in a bid to stop the despicable duo, but her leg was dragged under the front-wheel as they fled.
The robbery happened at about 10.50pm on Monday at the Asda supermarket, Westbrook, as she was loading her car with shopping.
A young woman snatched the bag before attempting to escape with a male accomplice - but was surprised when the victim fought back.
The pair managed to flee with a small amount of cash, leaving the woman lying injured in the car park. She required hospital treatment for minor injuries but was later released.
The robbery follows three similar incidents at the Morrison's store in Stockton Heath.
Three women have had bags stolen in 'drive-by' snatches during the past two weeks, but police can not yet confirm that the cases are linked.
Detective Constable Martin Grange said: "The victim was determined not to let them get away.
"Even when she was on the ground she attempted to get in the car and grab the steering wheel.
"She was also able to give us an accurate description of both people and we appeal for any witnesses," he said.
The woman is described as white, in her 20s, 5ft 5ins tall with wavy brown, shoulder length hair. She wore black polo neck and trousers with a purple jacket.
Her male accomplice was also white, 5ft 7ins tall, aged in his 20s, with short dark hair brushed forward.
He was of thin build with a pasty complexion wearing a black leather jacket.
The centre's CCTV system is being studied to identify the robbers or their car, which was a Mk II Ford Fiesta with a distinctive engine sound.
