Baby battles back after meningitis scare

A BABY girl is on the road to recovery after a terrifying meningitis scare which left her fighting for her life.

Three month old Georgina Middleton Davies, of Frobisher Court, Old Hall, suffered a series of seizures and stopped breathing, in Warrington Hospital's accident and emergency department.

She was rushed to Alder Hey Children's Hospital where she was diagnosed with meningitis.

Mum Sarah Middleton, aged 19, said: "It is every parent's worst nightmare. I can't even begin to describe it what it feels like."

Little Georgina bravely battled against the illness and is now well on her way to recovery.

But Sarah has warned parents to be on the look out for signs and to keep taking their child to the doctor if they are concerned.

She took Georgina to the doctors a couple of times, but because meningitis is so hard to detect, it wasn't diagnosed.

"She had two fits and I rushed her to Warrington where she had another fit that stopped her breathing," said Sarah.

The brave little girl is now making good progress. Sarah said: "She seems fine now. She is laughing and playing. But it was a horrible experience."

Sarah was concerned there may be more cases of the potentially fatal disease after she found herself talking to the parents of an 11-year old boy from Great Sankey, at Alder Hey, who had also been diagnosed with meningitis.

She said: "It's worrying these incidents were so close even though they've been described as isolated.
