TOP TRIP PLANNED FOR DRAW WINNER RICHARD

SIXTH former Richard Dyne is heading for the UK's top holiday destination after winning a Christmas draw.

Richard, aged 18, will be taking his girlfriend Suzanne Crook on the short break to Blackpool he won in a draw run by the Staffordshire Knot pub in Congleton.

Richard, from Sandbach Road, Congleton, is a pupil at Dane Valley High School, and works part-time at the pub on Friday and Saturday evenings.

He and Suzanne, from Harvey Road, Buglawton, are pictured with pub licensee Kath Holt and bar manager Debbie Westwood.

Kath took the opportunity of the photocall to quash rumours among her customers that she and joint licensee Robert Simpson were leaving the pub.

''Rumours have been circulating that we are leaving the Staffordshire Knot to take over a pub in Chester,'' she said.

''We have worked very hard to build trade up since we took over eight months ago, and I can assure our customers we have no plans to leave the pub.

''These rumours have been very upsetting for us and our staff.''
