AN Accounts Manager has died in a freak sledging accident in a Swiss ski resort.

Glen Allwright, who lived in Wincham, was on a business trip when his sledge hit a wooden bench in Schwarzsee.

Mr Allwright, who was 39, worked for Ilford Imaging near Knutsford.

He had been out with colleagues from the firm's sister plant in Freiburg when his sledge careered out of control and hit a bench at the bottom of a slope.

The resort's paramedics were at the scene immediately, while a helicopter was mobilised to fly him to hospital in Freiburg.
