Help to track down this thug

THIS is the face of a man who has been preying on Warrington's elderly.

Police believe he has been responsible for five raids on pensioners' homes and are appealing for the public to help to track him down.

Detectives suspect he is specifically targeting the elderly to steal cash and valuables. He is aggressive and abusive towards his victims and has also become increasingly violent.

In the latest robbery, an 86-year-old man was pushed to the ground and kicked before the thug ransacked his Melville Street home.

He has struck at Cyril Street, Leicester Street and twice in Hale Street since last September.

On a number of occasions, the offender has posed as a delivery man to gain entry to homes. On others, he has simply broken into the property before confronting the terrified owners and stealing possesions.

Despite appeals in the GUARDIAN, no new information has come to light and officers are now hoping the e-fit will jog someone's memory.

Detective Constable Debbie Bunker said: "Elderly people in the area where he has been operating are terrified because they think it may happen to them.

"All his robberies have taken place during the day and in relatively quiet areas where people would notice a stranger.

"We are also telling pensioners not to be afraid to call us if they see someone acting suspiciously because they won't be wasting our time," she said.

The man is described as between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall, with short brown hair and wearing dark clothes.
