Free to roam

WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones is backing the Right to Roam private members' bill put forward in the House of Commons last week.

The bill will come up for a second reading in March and is earmarked for a full day's debate, the first to be held on the issue in Parliament this century.

Helen said: "I am very pleased to be a supporter of this bill which will be welcomed by many people in Warrington.

"I hope the Conservative Party will not attempt to block the bill and will allow people to have access to more of the beautiful areas of countryside."

The bill has the support of the Ramblers' Association.

Assistant director David Beskine said: "We're very pleased that MPs, at last, will be given the opportunity to vote on the concept of a legal freedom to roam."
