Eaterie plan for former brothel

A FORMER brothel is to become a restaurant after plans were passed by councillors.

At a meeting last week, the development control committee unanimously approved the proposals for the first floor property in Church Street.

Northshore Properties of Macclesfield now plans to open a restaurant, possibly with a Spanish Tapas theme.

Following a GUARDIAN investigation in 1997, the seedy goings-on at the terraced property were revealed and details of the sex for cash operation at the gymnasium and massage parlour were passed to the police. The brothel was closed and has remained empty ever since. Work is due to start on the building in the near future, though no definite date has been set.
