School's mini-bus boost

DELIGHTED teachers - making a "do-it-yourself" bid to buy a new minibus - have received help from a home repairs giant.

Teachers at Mill Green School were given a £1,100 bonanza by staff at Winwick Quay-based B & Q to assist with a £10,000 fundraising challenge.

Headteacher Geoff Brown said staff hoped to reach their minibus target very soon.

He told the GUARDIAN: "We now have £4,500, nearly half way there. I am very grateful to the staff at B&Q - they have been very supportive. The school will continue to raise funds until the target is reached."

Mark Rigby, a staff member at the DIY store, presented the cheque at the school's weekly assembly and was pleased his firm could help.

"I have been the main contact between the school and warehouse and am absolutely thrilled to be handing over our contribution," said Mark.
