VALE Royal Pensioners' Association is celebrating record attendance figures with 150 people signing up to join the organisation this year.
At the association's annual meeting at Wharton Conservative Club, chairman Harry Mooney announced that membership had grown 'beyond all expectation'.
When the elderly people's organisation was first launched it consisted of just a few members. Harry, aged 79, said: "The membership this year is now up to about 150 people which is fantastic. I was also pleased to see a great turnout of 91 people to the annual meeting on a day of bad weather."
Harry was re-elected chairman, Tom Bell vice-chairman, Peggy Molyneux, secretary, and Brenda Mooney, manager and treasurer.
He added: "Anybody aged 55 or over is welcome to join us. We enjoy regular trips out to seaside resorts, dances, visits abroad and everybody has a great time."
Members of the Vale Royal Pensioners' Association executive committee also include: Edith Sefton, Mary Worrall, Connie Farrell, Frank and Rose Green.
