HOSPITAL BONUS

NEW medical equipment worth £50,000 has been donated to Halton Hospital - thanks to the generosity of the local community.

The League of Friends launched an appeal for £18, 000 to buy a new ECG (electro cardiograph) machine.

The response was so good that they were able to purchase 10 more items.

This week, they issued a special thank-you to all the generous World readers who supported their campaign.

Chairman of the League of Friends, Ted Dunbavin, said: "The final sum raised was just over £50,000.

"Due to the magnificent response from the Halton community, including some very generous donations from local businesses, we were able to raise our sights and extend the appeal to include related items of extra equipment."

The new equipment includes two mobile ECG recorders, a cardiac monitor, colposcopy, two PCAS pumps, paediatric trolley and treadmill/exercise bike for cardiac rehabilitation.
