Police in hunt for attackers

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was repeatedly kicked about the head and body during an unprovoked attack.

The 46-year-old victim was knocked to the floor by five males in their 20s as he was walking home with his 26-year-old nephew along Old High Street, in Winsford, less than a hour into the New Year.

The incident, which happened at 12.40am, on January 1, left the victim with cuts, bruising and swelling to his body and face and a damaged tooth. He did not receive hospital treatment.

After the assault, the five offenders made off along Old High Street towards Town Bridge roundabout.

One of the attackers was a white male in his early 20s with a slim build and gaunt face. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, baggy clothing and dark jeans.

The other four men are all described as being white males and in their early 20s.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact PC Rebecca Talbot at Northwich Police Station on 01606 48000 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
