SANDIWAY artist Linda Conneely has found an unusual way to get her work exhibited.

Linda, who only started painting a year ago, has caught the attention of Vale Royal Abbey's conference manager - and now her work is set to appear on some of the abbey's stationery.

"I was very surprised when they asked me about it," said Linda, of Mayfield Grove.

"I just went along to show my painting of Whitegate church to Carol Boyle at the abbey, and she came up with this idea."

Linda's painting of St Mary The Virgin Church was based on a photo by Eric Thurston, of the Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

She has used oil paints on canvas to give the picture a hazy, ethereal feel.

"It took me about 10 hours, all in all," added Linda.

"I went at it about four times, just making little tweaks and additions here and there.

"I'm quite pleased with it - but I think it also shows how good a photographer Eric is."

The print will be used almost immediately - on invitations to the first wedding to be held at the estate, which takes place later this month.

Carol explained: "I know Linda very well, and so I was delighted when she offered us the painting.

"I thought it would be a really novel idea to use this lovely painting to make some special days even more special."
