Gift of TVs thanks to mystery donation

THE WORLD of television and video has arrived at the new hospice thanks to the generosity of an anonymous benefactor.

The money was given to Rixton Friends of St Rocco's with the condition that it was used for the benefit of patients. The group chose to buy 10 integral television and video sets, worth £3,000, for use in the patients' bedrooms at the new hospice.

Additional cash from the same source was used to help furnish the new hospice's chapel. The Rixton group put this money together with £1,400 raised at a coffee evening towards furniture and decorations.

And Soroptomist International of Warrington also helped with the decoration of the chapel. They arranged the design of a special stained glass window with a nature theme. The chapel was blessed in a special ceremony by the Bishop of Warrington, the Right Rev John Packer, which was also attended by hospice dignitaries and Rev Ian Elliott, vicar of Holy Trinity Church, and chaplain at St Rocco's.
