MEET the mini mountaineer preparing to take on one of the Lake District’s peaks to raise cash for other youngsters.

Bodhi Davies, aged seven, was inspired to fundraise for Save the Children after seeing an advert for the cause on TV.

Proud mum Jennifer, of Baltimore Gardens, Chapelford, said the thoughtful youngster was keen to help children that 'did not have the things he does' and has so far raised £200.

The 27-year-old added: “He’s really good like that and after seeing the TV advert he just decided he wanted to do something to raise money.

“He was most concerned about people walking for miles for water and wanted to help for that reason.

“I think climbing a mountain is something he’s always wanted to do and one of his teachers had been talking about it in school so that’s when he decided it was what he wanted to do to raise the money.”

The Callands Primary School pupil, who is also planning a fundraising cake sale during the Easter holidays, will be heading to Cumbria next week to take on 525ft mountain Brant Fell with his mum and grandma Trudi, aged 53, while little sister Candy, aged three, will be cheering him on from the ground.

Beauty therapy teacher Jennifer added: “She understands Bodhi is raising money and I’m sure she’s proud too.

“Since he started raising money he’s been really excited about doing it and has enjoyed fundraising so much I think he will be probably do something else in the future.

“Originally he wanted to do Snowdon but we had to tell him that would be too big.

“It should be fun and everyone has been saying how kind he is to do something like this.
