Queues have started forming on the M6 after a serious collision on the M58 this afternoon, Friday.
A collision involving three vehicles occurred before 1pm between Junctions 3 and 4 on the M58 westbound.
The motorway has now been closed between Junction 26 of the M6 northbound and Junction 3 of the M58 westbound.
Traffic has begun to form on the M6, now reaching Junction 23, Haydock, and stretching down to Junction 19, Tabley Interchange.
North West Motorway Police Group and emergency services were in attendance and a diversion has been put in place.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the route, and check for details of the diversion, which can be found here.
Traffic is slow moving and long delays are expected.
